Officers with the Ottawa Police Service’s traffic enforcement unit stopped three separate drivers out for a joy ride on Wednesday.
Police started the day catching a stunt driver going 139 km/h in an 80 km/h zone on Highway 174 near Tenth Line Road.
Another was caught doing 137 km/h on Woodroffe Avenue and Grenfell Crescent, north of Barrhaven. The speed limit is 80 km/h.
Officers caught a third driver with a G2 licence “driving his girlfriend’s car” going 116 km/h in the 60 km/h zone on Woodroffe Avenue and Norice Street.
The charge of stunt driving includes an automatic court date, a 30-day license suspension and a 14-day vehicle impoundment.
