Line 1 LRT service restored between Tunney’s Pasture and Tremblay after switch malfunction

LRT service affected by a switch malfunction Sunday morning has been restored.

The Line 1 O-Train was only operating between Tunney’s Pasture and Rideau stations after an issue with the switch mechanism at the crossover near uOttawa Station.

In a memo early Sunday afternoon, acting general manager of transit services Troy Charter says full service between Tunney’s Pasture and Tremblay stations has resumed.

Service changes on Line 1 in Ottawa’s east end were scheduled for this weekend to allow for Stage 2 East Extension integration work.

Line 1 is operating between Tunney’s Pasture and Tremblay stations with R1 bus service operating between Hurdman and Blair stations on Saturday and Sunday.

“R1 replacement bus service is making final trips between Tunney’s Pasture and Blair stations to accommodate customers. It will then continue to operate between Hurdman and Blair station for the remainder of the service day, as the East Extension works continue,” Charter says.

Charter says the switch issues were not related to the Stage 2 East Integration work.

It comes after a power outage briefly cut off service from Tunney’s Pasture to Hurdman stations on Friday evening.

OC Transpo says Line 1 service from Tunney’s Pasture to Blair stations is expected to operate tomorrow for the normal service day.
