A man has died after a workplace accident in Ottawa’s south end, according to paramedics. Emergency crews responded to a business in the 4000 block of Barnsdale Road at approximately 12:30 p.m. Wednesday. Ottawa Paramedic Service spokesperson Marc-Antoine Deschamps tells CTV News Ottawa the call indicated a man was injured by a bin on a truck. The victim was pronounced dead at the scene. The Ottawa Police Service said the victim was 23 years old. The incident is not believed to be suspicious. “The Ottawa Police Service is supporting the Ministry of Labour’s investigation into the circumstances of the incident,” police said. “Our thoughts are with the victim’s family, friends and colleagues.” The Ministry of Labour confirmed it is investigating. “On September 9, 2026, the Ministry of Labour, Immigration, Training and Skills Development was notified of a workplace incident in Ottawa. A ministry inspector is on site investigating. As the investigation is ongoing, no further details are available at this time,” a statement said.
