Man facing charges following seizure of 7 kg of drugs, weapon from 2 homes in Ottawa South

The Ottawa Police Service says a man is facing multiple charges following the execution of two search warrants at two different homes in Ottawa South that resulted in the seizure of more than seven kilograms of drugs last week.

Police say officers executed the search warrants on Jan.31 following an extensive, month-long investigation.

During the execution of the search warrants, police found and seized 7 kg of drugs, a handgun with a large quantity of ammunition, a bulletproof vest, cell phones and a large amount of cash.

The operation was conducted with the help of the South and East Neighbourhood Response Teams and the Tactical Unit. The Ottawa man was arrested without incident, police say.

The 32-year-old man was charged with multiple drug and weapon-related charges.

Police say the investigation is still ongoing, and the name of the suspect cannot be released at this time.

He remains in custody.
