Police responding to a report of a possible impaired driver on Highway 417 in Ottawa found several open bottles of Fireball Whisky in the vehicle, according to Ontario Provincial Police.
Police received information from the Ottawa Police Service about a possible impaired driver shortly before 10 p.m. Wednesday.
“Police located the vehicle and found these open bottles of Fireball Whisky,” OPP Const. Michael Fathi, media relations officer with Ottawa OPP, said on X. “A roadside screening device was utilized, and the driver registered a three-day warn. The driver’s licence was seized and their vehicle was towed.”
A photo posted on X showed nine empty or half-empty small bottles of Fireball Whisky and one large bottle on a seat.
According to the Ontario government’s website, a driver who registered a blood-alcohol concentration in the “warn range” of .05 to .08 receives an immediate three-day licence suspension for a first occurrence.
