OPP recover $20,000 worth of stolen perfume, charge 5 in Pembroke, Ont.

Ontario Provincial Police say officers recovered $20,000 worth of stolen perfume after responding to a break-and-enter in Pembroke.

Police say a business in the 800 block of Pembroke Street East was broken into at around 2 a.m. Thursday.

The suspects had driven away before police arrived, but their vehicle was spotted on Highway 417 a short time later.

Five people ran out of the car when officers made the stop. All five were tracked down and arrested with help from the canine unit and the emergency response team, the OPP said in a news release.

Two 18-year-old suspects, one 19-year-old, one 21-year-old and one youth suspect are jointly charged with possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000, disguise with intent, obstructing a peace officer, dangerous operation, breaking and entering, and mischief over $5,000.

Police said all five were remanded in custody following bail hearings before the Ontario Court of Justice in Pembroke. They will have further court appearances at a later date.
