Two suspects are facing charges following the recovery of a stolen pick-up truck during the execution of a search warrant at a residence, near Kingston, Ont. Tuesday, according to the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP).

The search warrant was executed at a home in the village of Sunbury, South Frontenac Township, where a 2006 GMC pick-up truck worth $15,000 was seized and returned to its owner by police, the OPP said in a news release Thursday.

The investigation started when police received a call reporting “a theft of gas incident in Verona,” police say, adding that “it was determined that the vehicle used was stolen.”

“Two individuals were observed traveling in the area and fled from officers attempting to stop the vehicle,” the OPP said.

Later that day, the OPP and Gananoque Police Service executed the search warrant and arrested the two suspects.

A 30-year-old man, from Kingston, and a 28-year-old woman, from Stone Mills township, were charged with multiple offences, including theft of motor vehicle, possession of property obtained by crime over $5000 and mischief destroying or damaging property.

The 30-year-old man is also facing four counts of failure to comply with probation order. The 28-year-old woman is facing three counts of failure to comply with probation order.

Both suspects are scheduled to appear in court for a bail hearing.
