Ottawa police looking to identify driver of Volkswagen Jetta involved in Orleans hit and run

The Ottawa Police Service is looking to identify the driver of a vehicle involved in a hit and run collision involving a pedestrian in Orléans last month.

A pedestrian was struck by a vehicle on Clendenan Crescent, near Glandriel Crescent, at approximately 4:40 p.m. on Jan. 19.

Police say investigators believe the collision involving the pedestrian may have been a “deliberate act.”

“Witnesses report that at least two male occupants were inside the vehicle at the time of the collision and were seen laughing at the pedestrian after striking her before fleeing the scene,” police said. “There is reason to believe it may have been a random but deliberate act.”

Police say the vehicle involved was a white Volkswagen Jetta with dark tint and possible “aftermarket mudflaps or fender modifications.” The vehicle had an Ontario licence plate that included the letters “BVL” or “BLV.”

No serious injuries to the pedestrian were reported, according to police.
