Ottawa police seek suspect in November robbery in Lowertown

Ottawa police are asking for the public’s help identifying a man accused of trying to rob someone in Lowertown last fall.

Police say the incident happened at around 10:30 p.m. on Nov. 30, 2024. A suspect approached a man on Nelson Street, north of Rideau Street, and demanded money. A fight ensued and the suspect allegedly pulled out a knife and attempted to stab the victim.

The victim was able to run away, and the suspect fled in the opposite direction, police said.

Ottawa police describe the suspect as a Middle Eastern or Indigenous man who is 5-foot-10 (178 cm) tall, and approximately 130 lbs. (59 kg), with a slim build. He was wearing black pants and a two-tone winter jacket, carrying a backpack.
