Ontario Provincial Police are investigating after an SUV was found engulfed in flames after a crash on Highway 417 in Ottawa.
Emergency crews responded to a collision in the westbound lanes of Hwy. 417 near Metcalfe Street shortly after 4 a.m. Friday.
“The vehicle was fully engulfed, and the driver was observed fleeing the scene,” OPP Const. Michael Fathi said on X.
“The registered owner was found safe and sound at their residence.”

Investigators are trying to determine who was driving the vehicle at the time of the crash. No other vehicles were involved.
A photo posted on social media showed a damaged red Nissan vehicle.
