A 29-year-old man is facing charges and police are searching for four additional suspects in connection to an armed robbery at Bayshore Shopping Centre.
The Ottawa Police Service said at approximately 11:05 a.m. on March 9, four men smashed display cases at a jewellery store in the mall and threatened a security guard.
“They fled in a vehicle driven by a fifth suspect, taking stolen items with them,” police said in a media release Thursday morning.
Police say two suspects were carrying a sledgehammer/mallet.
Police say a man is facing charges of robbery, conspiracy to commit an indictable offence, possession of a weapon dangerous to public peace and possession of a prohibited weapon knowing no authority.
Police released images and descriptions of four other suspects in the investigation.

Police say the first suspect was wearing eyeglasses, a black face mask, a grey hoodie under a black jacket, red sweatpants and white running shoes. “He was carrying a sledgehammer/mallet and had a white reusable bag slung around his neck,” police said.

The second suspect was wearing a face mask, a black hooded jacket, black sweatpants with a white stripe down the sides, and black shoes. He was carrying a duffle bag.

The third suspect was wearing a face mask, a green hooded sweater, a black vest, light blue jeans, and black shoes.

And police say the fourth suspect was wearing a face mask, jeans, a green and white varsity-style jacket with a white hood, and white shoes.
