School buses in Renfrew County are cancelled Thursday after freezing rain fell overnight, but buses are still running in other parts of eastern Ontario.

The Renfrew County Joint Transportation Consortium said Thursday morning that transportation services are cancelled for all areas during both morning and afternoon runs because of icy road conditions and ongoing precipitation.

Schools remain open.

The Consortium du transport scolaire d’Ottawa, which serves French language school boards across eastern Ontario, has also cancelled bus service in Renfrew County, specifically for schools in Pembroke. Buses are running as normal in Arnprior, Brockville, Carleton Place, Almonte, Prescott-Russell, Kingston, Marionville, Merrickville, Kemptville, Ottawa and Trenton.

The Ottawa Student Transportation Authority says most buses are running Thursday, with only two listed cancellations serving Our Lady of Peace School listed on its website.

Student Transportation of Eastern Ontario is also listing only a few cancellations and delays on its website, but service is running as usual.
