Several people injured in head-on collision near Perth, Ont. involving OPP cruiser

Ontario Provincial Police say several people were seriously injured in a head-on collision involving an OPP cruiser and a pickup truck near Perth, Ont. Saturday afternoon.

According to a news release from police, an officer on patrol in police cruiser was struck by an oncoming pick-up truck on Highway 7 between Drummond School Road and Drummond Concession 7. The incident was reported shortly before 4:30 p.m.

A child who was a passenger in the pickup truck suffered life-threatening injuries and was airlifted to a regional trauma centre by Air Ornge. Two other passengers in the pickup truck were transported to a hospital by paramedics with serious injuries.

The OPP officer was taken to the hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries.
