Snow mixed with rain in the forecast for Ottawa this Saturday

A mix of snow and rain is in the forecast for Ottawa this Saturday, with mild temperatures before a polar vortex starts to roll in this evening.

Environment Canada calls for a high of 1 C, a 40 per cent chance of flurries and snow mixed with rain beginning this morning. The anticipated snow amounts to 2 to 4 centimetres. A low of -16 C and a 40 per cent of snow, 2 cm, are in the forecast for tonight.

The cold temperatures will make a comeback on Sunday. The weather agency is anticipating a high of -12 C and a 30 per cent chance of flurries for the day, and a low of -21 C and a 30 per cent chance of flurries for the night.

“Very cold weather is expected from Sunday evening until the middle of next week. Wind chill values will range between -30 and -37,” warns the weather agency on its website.

Monday will be sunny with a high of -16 C. Clear skies and a low of -24 C are expected for the night.

The average temperatures for this time of year are a high of -6 C and a low of -16 C.
