A tractor-trailer driver is facing charges following traffic complaints Thursday on Highway 416 in Edwardsburgh Cardinal Township, according to the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP).
Police say just after 9 p.m., the OPP received two complaints, one from a resident and another from an off-duty officer, reporting a tractor-trailer driving in the middle of the road and well-under the posted speed limit northbound on the highway.
That was when the tractor trailer was located and stopped by members of the Grenville County Detachment of the OPP, police say.
“The officers’ observations led into a roadside impaired driving investigation. The driver was subsequently arrested, and further testing was conducted at the Grenville County OPP Detachment,” the OPP said in a news release Thursday.
The driver registered more than three times the legal limit, according to the OPP.
The 47-year-old man, of Toronto, was charged with unnecessary slow driving and operation while impaired - alcohol, and operation while impaired - blood alcohol concentration 80 plus.
He is scheduled to appear in court at a future date.
