Bylaw Services officers have issued dozens of tickets to motorists ignoring the temporary no parking rules, as the City of Ottawa conducts the annual spring cleaning of roads and sidewalks.
The clean-up is underway in core neighbourhoods this week, with sweeping machines removing debris and winter from all paved roads and hard surfaces. On-street parking restrictions will be in effect in the neighbourhoods during street sweeping, with temporary “No Parking” signs posted.
During the first four days of the street sweeping operations, Bylaw Services officers issued 335 tickets for “parking interfering with road sweeping.” The fine is $125, with an early payment option of $105.
“Street sweeping operations will continue this week. Bylaw and Regulatory Services would like to remind motorists to keep an eye out for temporary no parking signs,” Roger Chapman, Director of Bylaw and Regulatory Services, said in a statement to CTV News Ottawa.
