It’s the weekend which means there’s a whole new batch of recently released movies playing on the big screen. Film critic Matt Demers, A.K.A. Mr. Hollywood, says this weekend’s slate of films features a little something for everyone. Godzilla Minus Zero (R) This film is a sequel to the 2023 film “Godzilla Minus One” and Demers says it takes things to a whole other level. “They go bigger,” he said. “This movie is longer. It’s louder, and it’s fantastic.” Demers says the visual effects are “amazing,” and the movie delivers on the emotions. “Man, did I cry at a Godzilla movie? Maybe I did. It’ll get you right in the feels. Who would have thought?” he said. “Godzilla Minus Zero” was directed by Takashi Yamazaki and stars Minami Hamabe, Jun Kunimura and Ryûnosuke Kamiki. The Cat in the Hat (PG) “The Cat in the Hat” is a fresh new adaptation of the classic children’s book from Dr. Seuss, Mr. Hollywood says. “This is great imagination. They take what’s in the book, the Dr. Seuss book, and they blow it up to something really exciting and fun,” he said. Mr. Hollywood said he brought his eight-year-old to the film, and they both had a blast. “This is for families. They are going to eat this up, kids and kids at heart, because I laughed quite a bit.” The film was directed by Alessandro Carloni and Erica Rivinoja. It stars Bill Hader, Bowen Yang and Quinta Brunson. Wild Horse Nine (R) Mr. Hollywood says this new film from Academy Award winning writer-director Martin McDonagh is the “epitome of on-screen chemistry.” The 1970s-set movie stars Sam Rockwell and John Malkovich as a pair of CIA agents on a mission. “The banter, the writing here is so fun, and I want to say maybe John Malkovich’s best on-screen work. I would love to see him get a nomination,” Mr. Hollywood said. “This movie’s fantastic.” “Wild Horse Nine” stars Malkovich, Rockwell and Steve Buscemi.
