Young person wanted on warrant in Gatineau facing drug charges in Ottawa

The Ottawa Police Service says a teenager wanted on drug possession charges in Gatineau was arrested this weekend in Ottawa.

The investigation began following complaints of drug trafficking in the ByWard Market.

On Sunday night, police stopped a vehicle and arrested one suspect based on an outstanding warrant in Gatineau. During the traffic stop, police said officers seized 100 grams of suspected fentanyl and cash.

The suspect, who cannot be identified under the Youth Criminal Justice Act, is now facing charges in Ottawa of drug possession for the purpose of trafficking, three counts of failure to comply with an undertaking, and possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000.

The drug unit continues to investigate, police say.
