In celebration of Easter weekend, families in Regina spent Saturday searching for easter eggs at the Edwardian Gardens.
Ever year, Government House hosts an egg hunt free of charge for people in the city to enjoy.
“It’s something that we’re always trying to do – include the community,” shared Gareth Evans, programming and visitor’s services supervisor.
“We want to be as open and inclusive as we can. You’ll see a lot of people coming here as their first really big experience. And a lot of people come here just to get introduced to the City of Regina itself.”
The national historical site provides tours and activities all year round.
This year’s hunt saw an increase of visitors with over 1,000 in attendance.
“It’s a really positive sign that people are wanting to come back to Government House. We like to think that we provide an excellent experience, whether it’s for an event like this or just for an annual guided tour,” Evans said.
With the event continuing to grow in attendance every year, Evans shared what his favorite part of the annual easter activity is.
“Seeing the joy of the kid’s faces, especially since I’m the one restocking the eggs,” he expressed. “I feel like the pied piper with the trail of kids following behind me as they search for the right color egg they’re trying to find.”
The site provides tours throughout the year and is encouraging visitors to also see its newest exhibit in the Queen Elizabeth II Art Gallery.
