Buckley Belanger, Liberal Party of Canada

Born in Ile a la Crosse, Liberal Party candidate Buckley Belanger established a local radio and TV station in his hometown after graduating high school in 1978.

He later worked for MBC in La Ronge then helped set up local stations in several other communities. After he returned home, Belanger was elected mayor of Ile a la Crosse and served three terms.

He was elected as an MLA in 1995 and has served in the cabinet as minister of environment and resource management, as well as associate minister of intergovernmental and aboriginal affairs.

He has three daughters and six grandchildren.

Jim Lemaigre, Conservative Party of Canada

Conservative Party candidate Jim Lemaigre previously served as the Saskatchewan Party Member of the Legislative Assembly for Athabasca from 2022 to 2024.

Before becoming an MLA, he served as an RCMP officer in several communities in the province, also working as a program manager for the First Nations and Indigenous Policing Program.

He is a member of the Clearwater River Dene Nation.

Doug Racine, New Democratic Party

NDP candidate Doug Racine is a veteran with 12 years of military service, including an overseas peacekeeping tour of duty.

Racine practiced law for 25 years, representing multiple Indigenous organizations in residential school claims and environmental cases.

He established the Aboriginal Law Group, located on Muskeg Lake Urban Reserve and says he will bring his experience of fighting for justice to Ottawa.
