On The Go: Telemiracle 49

TeleMiracle has returned for the 49th year and Saskatchewan is busy ringing those phones.

The telethon’s pre-show began at 6:15 p.m. Saturday night. The event then kicked off at 9 p.m. and will run until Sunday, March 2 at 5 p.m. at Saskatoon’s Prairieland Park.

The annual staple can be viewed on TeleMiracle’s website, on their Facebook page, and broadcast on CTV Saskatchewan.

Money raised during the event goes to the Kinsmen Foundation, which provides special needs equipment or travel equipment for those in Saskatchewan needing medical treatment.

In 2024, TeleMiracle raised $6,112,717, with $5,519,229 raised in 2023.

Cast members

Several cast members have returned from previous years, including Beverly Mahood, Brad Johner, Luc Johner, Jeffrey Straker, Jill Straker, Shailynn Taylor, Dione Taylor, Lisa Franks, and Sabeen Ahmad.

New cast members this year are Tenille Arts and Ashley Callingbull.

TeleMiracle Teddy Bear

Each year, a new TeleMiracle teddy bear is introduced and is available with a minimum donation to coincide with the year of the event.

Since it’s the 49th year, those who donate $149 will receive the bear.

This year’s bear is named Betty and is named after TeleMiracle 49 Chair Terri Troupe-Logue’s Aunt Betty.

When Troupe-Logue named the bear, Betty was experiencing health struggles. According to a Facebook post from TeleMiracle, Betty is still here to see the bear named after her.

The bear wears biker apparel since Troupe-Logue is an avid Harley Davidson rider, always making sure she stops to visit her Aunt Betty when she passes through B.C.
