As the amount of vehicle thefts in Regina increase, the Regina Police Service (RPS) is advising drivers to do their part to avoid getting their ride stolen.

In the last 12 days, police received 16 reports of stolen vehicles, according to a release from RPS. Doors were unlocked and vehicles were running in nine of those cases, which police said made it easy for thieves to access.

Police advise drivers to never leave valuables in their parked vehicles, remove garage door openers and spare keys, never leave their vehicle running with the keys inside, and always lock their vehicle doors.

Anyone who sees a crime in progress or suspicious activity is asked to contact police.
