WATCH: A Regina Beach man is facing several charges after being the subject of heavy police presence in the community over the weekend.

Saskatchewan RCMP are now offering details on a police operation that took place in Regina Beach over the weekend– revealing that it was due to the theft of a gun, ammunition and a motorhome.

The incident took place on the afternoon of Saturday, April 19. Lumsden RCMP received a report of a theft from a property on Highwood Avenue in Buena Vista at around 3 p.m.

According to RCMP, it was reported that a 46-year-old man had taken the vehicle and weapon without the consent of the owner.

At 5:30 p.m., the motorhome was discovered at residence on Woodland Crescent in Regina Beach.

Given the nature of the theft, a large police presence grew in the community as officers prepared to make the arrest.

Members of both the Lumsden and Southey RCMP detachments, RCMP dog services, and Regina Police Service (RPS) combined traffic units responded to the area.

Additionally, the RPS aerial support unit was called to the scene.

Residents were advised to stay indoors during the operation.

Officers were eventually able to approach the motorhome and arrest the man and woman inside it without incident.

Two loaded guns and magazines were found during a search of the motorhome.

A search warrant was also executed at a home on Woodlawn Crescent – where three more guns with loaded magazines were discovered – in addition to a baton and a knife.

As a result of the investigation, the 46-year-old accused from Regina Beach faces seven charges connected to the incident – all of which are weapons related.

The accused was additionally charged with one count of mischief under $5,000 in relation to the attempted theft of an ATM at a business in Regina Beach the day before.

The woman who was arrested was later released. She faces no charges.

He is set to appear in Regina provincial court on May 21.
