If you have a liking for dogs and are looking for something fun to do this winter, Campbell’s Racing Sled Dogs is for you.
“Right away, they’re captivated by the experience,” said Aaron Campbell, the owner of Campbell’s Racing Sled Dogs.
The exciting experience is for anyone. Online booking and fee details are available on the company’s website.
“Not a lot of people have the opportunity to do it. We are coming to an area where it’s a little more accessible to the city. Come out to a venue that’s beautiful, it’s prepared already,” he explained.
The dogs making this adventure happen are a pack of Alaskan Huskies, dogs that are specifically bred for racing.

“We chose them because I do race competitively on the spring circuit. They’re a lot of fun, they’re loyal, they’re honest. They work hard. They are just a great dog to be with,” Campbell said.

After taking a guided tour through the cross-country sky trails, guests can warm up in a wood burning sauna, something that is available year-round at Echo Valley Provincial Park.

“You’re able to come. You get in there, just relax. It’s basically 15 minutes of heat and then 10 minutes of cold and it’s absolutely phenomenal for the body, mind and soul,” said Shelley Maclean, the park manager for Echo Valley and Katepwa Point Provincial Park.
The sauna and sled dog tours offer the full winter experience. It’s a new partnership between the park and company.
“Sleds and dogs have been utilized in the province traditionally as a form of transportation. This is just a way for our guests to be able to experience what people would have historically on the lands in terms of how they were able to get around in the valley,” Maclean explained.
The sled dogs will be heading to Blackstrap Provincial Park on Jan.18 and 19.
They will also be at Regina’s Frost Festival.
