Suspect wanted in Regina’s third homicide of 2022 arrested in Edmonton

WATCH: A 27-year-old suspect wanted in connection to Regina’s third homicide of 2022 was arrested in Edmonton and faces a murder charge.

A man wanted in relation to Regina’s third homicide of 2022 has been arrested in Edmonton, Alta.

Amiir Abdullahi Hussen, 27, was arrested by the Edmonton Police Service on Thursday at 1 p.m. and charged with second-degree murder for the death of Leslie Victor John Whitebear, according to a release from the Regina Police Service (RPS).

Officers and EMS were called to a report of an injured, unresponsive man lying outside a residence in the 100 block of Davidson Crescent on March 15, 2022. The man, who had sustained a critical injury, was taken to hospital where he later died.

Two days later, officers deemed the man’s death a homicide and an investigation began.

Hussen is currently in custody in Edmonton and will be returned to Regina to make his first court appearance, which has not been set yet.
