The Melfort Mustangs and Weyburn Red Wings will meet in the Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League’s (SJHL) Canterra Seeds Cup to determine a league champion for 2025.
The Red Wings booked their ticket to the league final for the first time since 2012 Monday night with a 3-2 overtime win over the Flin Flon Bombers to take their semi final series in six games after holding a 3-0 series lead.
Weyburn finished the 2024-25 regular season on top of the Viterra Division with a 35-19-2-0 record and 72 points.
The Mustangs meanwhile are looking to defend their title from last season and defeated Kindersley and Yorkton both in five games to get back to the final.
Melfort dominated the regular season standings with a 46-8-0-2 record and were consistently one of the top teams in the CJHL rankings throughout the season.
Game one of the Canterra Seeds Cup is set for Saturday in Melfort.
