Saskatoon police say five teenage boys between the ages of 15 and 17 are facing a total of 17 charges following two bear spray incidents on Saturday afternoon.
According to a Saskatoon police news release, officers were sent to a bus terminal on the 300 block of Confederation Drive around 4 p.m. for a reported bear spray incident involving around a dozen people.
While police were travelling to the scene – a second bear spray call came in from across the street on the 3100 block of Laurier Drive. Police said the group in question reportedly fled into a nearby pedestrian tunnel before officers located them near Bedford Road and Montreal Avenue.
Eleven people were searched, police say they found imitation firearms, bear spray, a machete, knives and an extendable baton.
Five teenage boys were then charged with a total of 17 counts, police said.
Saskatoon police say the investigation is ongoing.
