Nearly $850K in contraband seized at federal prison in Prince Albert 

Nearly 850,000 worth of contraband was seized at Saskatchewan Penitentiary in Prince Albert, according to Correctional Services of Canada (CSC).

CSC says packages containing drugs and other illegal items were intercepted on May 5 after staff received information from the public.

Items seized included methamphetamine, tobacco, lighters, mobile phones and accessories. The total estimated institutional value of the seizure is $846,125.

Police have been notified and the institution is investigating.

CSC says it uses several tools to prevent drugs from entering federal prisons, including ion scanners and drug‑detector dogs to search buildings, personal property, inmates and visitors.
