A GoFundMe has raised nearly $60,000 to cover medical bills for two Saskatchewan paramedics who were hit by a vehicle in Las Vegas, Nevada.
The GoFundMe says that Katrine Sinclair and Charlie Lastowsky were struck while using a Las Vegas crosswalk on April 18. Both sustained severe injuries and have undergone surgery. The GoFundMe says it will go towards medical bills as the two women did not have insurance.
Both are recently graduated paramedics from Prince Albert, currently working for Parkland Ambulance.
Parkland spokesperson Lyle Karasiuk told CTV News in an email that both women were in stable condition, and good spirits.
Karasiuk says their families have arrived in Las Vegas to support them in their recovery.
“Our paramedic family at Parkland Ambulance Care continues send our best wishes, thoughts, and prayers to our two paramedics and their families,” he said.
“We wish members of our paramedic team good health and a speedy recovery!”
In an update Tuesday, Parkland Ambulance said the two women are still in hospital recovering from surgery, with support from their families.
According to Parkland Ambulance, they have both been connecting with their friends over social media.
