Saskatchewan man charged with 3 counts of murder for Lloydminster triple homicide

A 31-year-old man has been charged with three counts of second-degree murder after Saskatchewan RCMP say they located the bodies of three people inside a home in Lloydminster on Sept. 11, 2024.

Police say they arrested 31-year-old Nakota Rayne Pooyak, who is a resident of Sweetgrass First Nation, Sask. on Jan. 18 and charged him with three counts of second-degree murder. He was remanded into custody and is scheduled to appear in court on Jan. 20, an RCMP news release said.

In September, RCMP identified the victims as Brent Peters, 66, Matthew Peters, 32, and Brennan Peters, 34. Police said the three individuals were all found with gunshot wounds at a residence in the vicinity of 50th Street and 47th Avenue after officers were called for a wellness check.

“Since the beginning of this investigation, we have been committed to uncovering the truth and bringing those responsible to justice. This investigation involved countless hours of meticulous tenacious work, as well as collaboration with other RCMP and Municipal police agencies,” inspector Dean Riou, OIC North Operations, K Division Serious Crime Branch said in the release.

Throughout the investigation RCMP continued to advise the public that there was no ongoing threat in Lloydminster related to the incident.
