The City of Saskatoon has increased security at Woodlawn Cemetery following the vandalism of eight headstones.
According to a statement from the city, the headstones were tipped over in an older part of the cemetery that houses several graves from the 1940s.
The Saskatoon Police Service is looking into the incident and encourages anyone with information to contact police or Crime Stoppers.
City officials say that in the meantime, staff will be getting in contact with any family members on file. Due to the age of the headstones, the city says there may be some challenges in contacting relatives.
Moving forward, there will be overnight patrols and extra daily patrols throughout the cemetery.
