Saskatoon voters head to the polls for early voting in federal election

Voters who wanted to get a jump on casting their ballot took advantage of advance polls on Friday.

The polling station in Saskatoon’s Briarwood neighbourhood had a line up almost as soon as the doors opened, with a queue of up to 30 people at times during the first few hours of opening.

Advance polls opened at 9 a.m. and will run until 9 p.m. Monday night.

Voters can find information about where to vote on the Elections Canada website.

On Tuesday, there will be voting in places like hospitals and other acute care facilities, as well as by special ballot at Elections Canada offices.

Tuesday is also the deadline to apply to vote by mail.

With Canada’s federal election set for April 28, there are 61 candidates running across 14 ridings in Saskatchewan.

Out of 14 ridings, 12 have incumbent Conservatives running again for their seats.
