Two men are facing a laundry list of charges after allegedly stealing a vehicle and fleeing from police on Red Pheasant Cree Nation. According to RCMP, its Battlefords detachment received a report of two men entering a home on the First Nation while armed on Oct. 15, 2026, at around 11:30 a.m. Those inside the home didn’t report any physical injuries to police, RCMP said. Mounties say that after patrolling the area, officers found the suspects driving on a nearby rural road and attempted to make a traffic stop. However, they say the suspects failed to stop and fled from police. They reportedly kept driving until they were eventually stopped on Mosquito Grizzly Bear’s Head Lean Man First Nation and were arrested without incident. After searching their vehicle, RCMP says they found and seized two guns, a small amount of suspected cocaine, 34 MDMA pills as well as several pharmaceutical-style pills. As a result of an investigation, a 22-year-old from Edmonton and a 29-year-old from Mosquito Grizzly Bear’s Head Lean Man First Nation are facing a combined total of 44 charges. They include possession of a firearm in a motor vehicle, firearm possession contrary to an order, possession of a prohibited weapon, failing to comply with a release order condition and resisting/obstructing a peace officer. The 22-year-old also faces additional charges including operation of a conveyance while impaired, flight from a peace officer, possession for the purposes of trafficking and possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000. They both appeared in North Battleford Provincial Court on Oct. 16.
