Two Saskatchewan communities set new daily high temperature records on Sunday, according to Environment and Climate Change Canada.
The Prince Albert region, where records have been kept since 1884, broke a temperature record by just over one degree, reaching 8.5 C on Feb. 23.
Environment Canada says the area broke the former maximum temperature record of 7.2 C, set in 1905.
Waskesiu Lake reached a high of 10.3 C on Sunday, blowing passed the previous temperature record for Feb. 23 of 6.9 C, established in 2004, according to the federal weather service.
Records in that area have only been kept since 1966.
Environment Canada spokesperson Brian Proctor said the province would likely see more daily record temperatures on Monday, but none had been reached by publication time.
