A 14-year-old boy and a 29-year-old man have been charged in connection with an armed robbery at a currency exchange shop in Mississauga three months ago.

Police said the Dec. 10 incident began when four suspects, armed and wearing disguises, approached the owner of the exchange shop that was located near Cawthra Road and Dundas Street East.

The owner was sitting in his vehicle outside the shop when the suspects allegedly hit him.

Police said the suspects physically removed him from the vehicle and forced him to open the shop.

When they got inside, the suspects were confronted by another employee, forcing them to flee the scene, police said.

The victims did not suffer any physical injuries, according to police.

More than a month after the incident, officers arrested a 14-year-old boy from Toronto. He was charged with robbery and wearing a disguise with intent. The boy’s name cannot be released under the provisions of the Youth Criminal Justice Act.

On Wednesday, a second suspect, identified as 29-year-old Tylor Lecuyer of Richmond Hill, was taken into custody. He has been charged with robbery, wearing a disguise with intent, possession of property obtained by crime, and possession of a firearm contrary to court order.

Police said Lecuyer was on a court-ordered weapons prohibition due to a previous conviction.

In addition, investigators also recovered stolen property and multiple replica firearms during a search of a residence near Leslie Street and Highway 7.
