One person shot dead near Toronto baseball diamond

One person is dead after a shooting in midtown Toronto on Thursday afternoon and a suspect is in custody, police say.

It happened at around 12:25 p.m. in the area of Marlee Avenue and Glengrove Avenue West, which is close to Lawrence Avenue and Allen Road.

The incident appears to have occurred near the baseball diamond at Wenderley Park.

Toronto Paramedics responded to the shooting, but the victim was pronounced dead at the scene.

Footage from CP24’s news chopper shows police taping off an entrance to a neighbourhood park in the area where the shooting occurred.

Details regarding the victims identity is not yet known.

A suspect was arrested at the scene, according to police.
