The Edmonton International Airport (YEG) is warning construction on its North Tower could cause slow downs for visitors. The 63,000 square foot tower is being redeveloped by Clark Builders and includes improvements to the building envelope, refreshed interior spaces and modernized elevators. Alternating lane closures started Monday on the Departures level. Visitors are encouraged to use the South Pedway or ground level to travel to and from the terminal. The airport also said there will be signage and extra staff to help with navigation. While the delays are expected to be “minimal,” YEG recommends people give themselves extra time. If you are picking someone up, you are asked to use the Park & Wait lot until the traveller is ready to be picked up. The North Tower first opened in 1963 and hosted the airport’s corporate offices and air traffic control tower until the Central Office Tower was built in 2012.
