TTC suspends service along stretch of Line 1 amid bitterly cold weather

Repairs forced the suspension of the Line 1 service between Wilson and Lawrence West stations.

There is no subway service along a stretch of Line 1 this morning due to “emergency rail repairs,” the TTC says.

The repairs forced the transit agency to suspend service between Wilson and Lawrence West stations.

Shuttle buses are running between the two stations but the TTC says riders can also consider taking buses to the Yonge side of Line 1.

The TTC said customers are also experiencing delays of up to 10 minutes across Line 1.

The shut down comes as commuters endure bitterly cold temperatures in Toronto. Environment Canada says the current temperature in the city is -18 C, feeling closer to -28 with the wind chill.

One commuter told CP24 that she had been waiting 20 minutes out in the cold to catch a shuttle bus to school this morning.

“It is very hard because every day we have an issue,” she said of her usual TTC commute. “It is always a nightmare to go out.”

The TTC reported brief delays between Bloor-Yonge and Union stations earlier this morning but that issue has since resolved.
