A female has died after she was struck by a driver shortly after exiting their vehicle in Oshawa on Wednesday afternoon.
It happened in the area of Mary Street North near Taunton Road at around 4:20 p.m. on Wednesday.
Police said that the driver was travelling southbound on Mary Street when they stopped their vehicle, allowing the female passenger to get out.
The female was then struck by the vehicle as it drove away, police said.
Police said the driver of the vehicle remained on scene.
The roadway was closed for several hours while police collected evidence.
Police are still investigating and no charges have been laid.
