Emergency and utility crews are working to cap a “major residential natural gas leak” in Milton on Monday evening. It occurred at a home on Bartleman Terrace, which is near Regional Road 25 and Louis St. Laurent Avenue. Halton Regional Police Service say Milton Fire Dept. and Milton Hydro responded to a request for assistance from Enbridge Gas to a residence in that area at around 7:45 p.m. “Gas workers had originally responded to an odour of gas but quickly determined there was an apparent major gas leak within the home,” they said in a release. ‘Methodical, staged response’ Crews are now engaged in a “methodical, staged response to this incident.” It is unclear at this point how long it will take to resolve the situation, police said. Transit buses have been brought in temporarily shelter affected residents.
