Video shows moment of apparent explosion at Brampton home

Published:

Firefighters are at the scene of a fire in a residential neighbourhood in the area of McLaughlin and Mayfield roads in Brampton.

Security video obtained by CP24 appears to show an explosion at a Brampton home just moments before a fire broke out at the residence early Tuesday morning.

In the footage, a flash of light can be seen before a fireball lights up the frame and debris is sent flying in front of the residence, located on Wainwright Drive, near McLaughlin and Mayfield roads.

The fire broke out just before 3:30 a.m. and crews said it quickly escalated to a two-alarm event.

No injuries have been reported.

Crews will likely be on scene for the next few days, officials said.

“At this point, it is too early to determine if the fire is deemed as suspicious,” police said, adding that the investigation is ongoing.

One neighbour told CP24 that he has not seen the cars in the driveway at the home move for some time and there has been little activity at the house in recent months.

The Office of the Fire Marshal will be called in to probe the circumstances surrounding the blaze.
