3 arrested after $22K in Arc’teryx goods stolen from Vancouver store

The Arc'teryx store on West 4th Avenue in Vancouver, B.C., is seen on Jan. 30, 2024.

Police arrested three suspects following a theft at an Arc’teryx store in Vancouver’s Kitsilano neighbourhood this week.

Masked thieves made off with more than $22,000 worth of merchandise from the Arc’teryx near West 4th Avenue and Yew Street on Monday evening, the Vancouver Police Department said in a social media post.

Using information from an employee who called 911, officers managed to track down three suspects, including one wanted in connection with a separate theft, authorities said.

“The stolen property was recovered before it could be sold,” the VPD wrote on X, formerly Twitter.

The same Arc’teryx location was targeted in another robbery in January 2024, when two people bear-sprayed the store and snatched approximately $25,000 worth of merchandise.

Authorities were able to locate two suspects in connection with that incident as well.

On Wednesday, Vancouver city councillors voted to establish a “Retail Security Task Force” to engage with local businesses and investigate the “root causes” of retail theft.

The task force is expected to deliver a report to council outlining its findings within six months.
