A 45-year-old inmate has died at a federal prison in B.C.’s Fraser Valley, according to the Correctional Service of Canada. The individual’s name cannot be shared because of a court-ordered publication ban intended to protect the identity of the victim in the case. The inmate died on Oct. 22, according to the CSC, which did not share the gender of the deceased, nor the offence or offences for which they had been sentenced. CTV News has reached out to the federal agency for more information and will update this story if a response is received. At the time of their death, the inmate was serving a sentence of 14 years, 11 months and 21 days, which began on Oct. 1, 2018, just over eight years ago. “The inmate’s next of kin have been notified,” the CSC said in its statement announcing the inmate’s death. “As in all cases involving the death of an inmate, the Correctional Service of Canada (CSC) will review the circumstances. CSC policy requires that the police and the coroner be notified.”
