A B.C. man alleged to have ties to a “transnational cybercrime network” was arrested last month, according to authorities.
The RCMP’s Cybercrime Investigation Team announced the arrest of a Surrey man in a news release Wednesday, saying he was “operating a network of thousands of infected computers capable of delivering malware.”
Police said the investigation is ongoing and no further details were provided.
The arrest was made as part of an international task force called Operation Endgame, which targets “online malware uploaders,” the RCMP said.
“This operation was co-ordinated with our law enforcement partners from Denmark, France, Germany, the Netherlands, the Czech Republic, and the United States,” said Supt. Adam MacIntosh said in a news release.
“We are working together to make the internet safer for Canadians.”
