Georgia Viaduct closing for construction crane removal

The Georgia and Dunsmuir viaducts lead into Vancouver's downtown core.

The Georgia Viaduct will be closed starting at 6 a.m. Saturday to allow for the removal for a construction crane.

The closure, which will start at the intersection of West Georgia and Beatty streets and end at Prior Street, will be in effect until at least 8 p.m. Saturday, an announcement from the city said.

If the work is not complete, the closure could be extended until 2:30 p.m. Sunday.

All vehicle lanes will be closed, and pedestrian and cycling access will also be prohibited.

The Dunsmuir Viaduct will not be impacted.
