The Integrated Homicide Investigation Team has identified the woman who was found dead in Pemberton, B.C., last week as 22-year-old Tabitha Peters.

The Pemberton woman was found in the 7400 block of Prospect Street around 10 a.m. on Feb. 22, IHIT said in a statement Thursday.

“First responders, including British Columbia Emergency Health Services, attended the location but the woman was declared deceased on scene,” the statement said.

Police say initial evidence suggests this was an isolated incident, and there is no ongoing risk to the public.

The investigation, carried out in collaboration with the Pemberton RCMP, the Squamish RCMP, the Whistler RCMP, the Integrated Forensic Identification Service (IFIS), and the BC Coroners Service, is ongoing, the statement said.

“We are in the beginning stages of our investigation,” said Cpl. Esther Tupper.

“We’re asking anyone with information to please come forward.”

Anyone with information regarding the incident is asked to contact IHIT at 1-877-551-444 or via email at ihitinfo@rcmp-grc.gc.ca.
