Police in Abbotsford are calling out “completely unacceptable” driving behaviour after allegedly clocking a teenager speeding 70 km/h over the limit while on a novice licence.

On Friday, the Abbotsford Police Department took to X, formerly Twitter, to say the 19-year-old had been hurtling 150 km/h in an 80 km/h construction zone on Highway 1.

The class 7 driver is now “facing the consequences” and has been slapped with an excessive speeding ticket, said police.

The teenager’s car has also been impounded for seven days.

According to police, the impound marked one of 132 that officers have already carried out this year.

Correction

This story has been updated to correct the description of the driver's licence. It was a novice licence, not a learner's licence.
