Man injured in Delta, B.C., shooting with ‘hallmarks’ of gang incident, police say

A torched vehicle was found after an early morning shooting in Delta that left one man injured.

Authorities are investigating a shooting in a residential area of Delta, B.C., that left a man injured Monday morning.

The Delta Police Department said the shooting was reported near 112B Street and 81 Avenue, a few blocks away from McCloskey Elementary School, around 7:15 a.m.

A single victim was taken to hospital for treatment of undisclosed injuries.

Approximately 10 minutes later, a white Ford pickup truck was found ablaze on Blake Drive near 72 Avenue, a couple kilometres from the shooting scene.

“While we wait to confirm connection between these incidents, our investigators do believe the burning truck is involved in the shooting investigation,” the DPD said, in a news release.

Authorities also said the shooting appears to have been targeted, and that the two incidents have the “hallmarks” of B.C.‘s bloody gang conflict.

The DPD said officers will be conducting door-to-door canvassing in the areas of the shooting and pickup truck fire, and asked anyone with information or video that could be relevant to the investigation to come forward.
