Mounties are investigating a two-vehicle crash that claimed the life of a minivan driver in Salmon Arm, B.C.
A statement from the local RCMP detachment says first responders were called to the collision scene in the 4100 block of the Trans-Canada Highway at 10:47 a.m. Wednesday.
Investigators say initial reports suggest the minivan was eastbound when it crossed the centre line into the westbound lanes, where it collided head-on with a semi-trailer.
“Tragically, the male driver of the minivan succumbed to his injuries at the scene,” the police statement said. “The semi-truck driver sustained minor injuries.”
The Trans-Canada Highway remained closed in both directions into the evening as police and the provincial coroners’ service conducted separate investigations.
“Currently, the cause of the minivan crossing the centre line remains under investigation,” police said.
Anyone with information related to the collision, including the events leading up to it, is asked to contact Salmon Arm RCMP at 250-832-6044.
