Mounties in northern B.C. are confirming that a recent suspicious death is now considered a homicide, and they’re asking the public to help piece together what happened to the victim during her final days.

Dawson Creek RCMP found human remains on April 14 and began a suspicious death investigation.

A news release shared the following day included very few details. Police did not say where the body was found or why officers were present in that location.

In an update Thursday, B.C. RCMP’s Major Crime Section publicly identified the victim as 24-year-old Emily Ogden “in an effort to advance the investigation.”

Ogden was reported missing in Fort St. John on March 29, and Mounties in that city issued an appeal for help finding her on April 10, four days before her body was discovered.

“We would like to know if anyone saw or heard from Emily during the time she was reported missing, until the discovery of her body,” said Staff Sgt. Kris Clark of the B.C. RCMP, in Thursday’s update.

Police said their investigation “remains active and ongoing,” and anyone with information should call Dawson Creek RCMP at 250-784-3700.
